What is Tutor Time?
Tutor Time is a free listing board for online and private tutors. Students browse profiles and contact tutors themselves. We stay out of bookings and payments.
Who runs Tutor Time, and how is it paid for?
Tutor Time LLC, a Delaware limited liability company, USA, runs Tutor Time. Write to support@tutortime.study. It's self-funded: we pay for it ourselves. We don't charge individual tutors or families, and we never take a cut of lesson fees. More is on our About page.
Is Tutor Time safe and legitimate?
Yes. Tutor Time is a free directory. Tutors and students pay each other directly. A company that lists several tutors is billed by Tutor Time. As with any tutor you find online, we recommend a short trial lesson or video call before you commit to paying for several lessons up front.
My browser warned me about the site. Is Tutor Time safe?
Google Safe Browsing lists tutortime.study as safe. Because the site is new, some browsers or security tools may still show a caution warning. If you see one, please email support@tutortime.study and tell us which browser you're using (a screenshot helps) so we can look into it.
Does Tutor Time verify tutors?
Not fully, and we want to be upfront about that. Tutors sign in with a Google account to create a listing, and we review listings to remove ones that look unsafe or aren't genuine tutoring. We don't check qualifications or identity, and we don't run background checks. What a tutor writes on their profile is their own description.
You can check a tutor yourself before you book:
- Ask for proof of qualifications, such as a teaching certificate or degree, and check that the name matches.
- Where a teacher registration body exists, look the tutor up. For example, SACE in South Africa, the Teacher Reference Number (TRN) and QTS check on GOV.UK in the UK, or a Ministry of Education teacher certificate in Taiwan.
- Look at their LinkedIn or other professional profiles to see whether their experience matches what they've told you.
- Ask for references from past students or parents, and actually contact one.
- Start with a short trial lesson or video call before paying for several lessons up front. For younger students, a parent should be present or nearby.

How do I find a tutor?
Browse the home page and filter by subject, location, price, and lesson format. Click a tutor card to see their full profile.
What if I can't find a tutor?
Post the subject, level, and whether you want online or in-person lessons, then confirm the email we send. Your email is visible only to a solo tutor with a live listing that is visible in search, and posting is free with no account.
Do I need an account to find a tutor?
No. You can browse and message a tutor without an account. If you sign in with Google, you can send that message immediately, save tutors, and see your message history. Tutors also sign in with Google to create or manage a listing.
How do I contact a tutor?
Open their card and choose Contact this tutor. Confirm you are of legal age, then send a short message. If you are signed in, it goes to the tutor immediately. If you are not, enter your email and confirm the link we send. Tutors who are paused do not show those details.
Does Tutor Time charge a fee?
No. It is free to browse, and free for an individual tutor to list. We do not take a cut of lesson fees.
Who sets the lesson price?
Each tutor sets their own rate, shown on their profile. We convert rates into other currencies so you can compare them, but the actual price is agreed directly between you and the tutor.
What currencies are rates shown in?
Rates are shown in pounds, US dollars, Australian dollars and New Taiwan dollars, set by each tutor. Conversions to your currency are a guide only, so please agree the exact rate and currency with the tutor.
How do payments work?
You and the tutor agree the rate and handle payment yourselves. Tutor Time does not process payments or sit in the middle of bookings.
Can lessons be online or in person?
Both. Filter by lesson format, or check each profile. Many tutors offer online and in-person sessions.
Is there a Tutor Time app?
Not yet. Tutor Time works in your phone's browser, so there's nothing to install.
Why do I have to confirm my age to see contact details?
Tutor contact details are shown to students and parents who confirm they are of legal age in their country or region. Visitors confirm again after they close the tab. A signed-in student who has already confirmed is not asked again.
How do I list as a tutor?
Sign in with Google, then add a photo, subjects, location, rate, and how students can reach you. You can edit your listing anytime. Start at tutortime.study/list.
Is listing free?
Yes for an individual tutor. There is no listing fee and no commission. Tutors keep what they earn.
Can a company list multiple tutors?
Yes. Register a company account to list several tutors under one organisation. A company that lists several tutors can be billed for that listing. Payment is arranged with Tutor Time.
Can schools or agencies use Tutor Time to recruit teachers?
No. Tutor Time is a directory for students and families to find tutors, not a recruitment or job service. Tutoring businesses can list their own tutors with a company account, but not recruit from the directory. Tutors: be careful with job offers that involve travelling abroad, paying fees up front, or sending ID documents, and report anything suspicious to support@tutortime.study.
How do I get help or report a problem?
Email us at support@tutortime.study. Lesson arrangements are between you and the tutor, because Tutor Time is a listing board, not an agency.
