Hi! I’m Sky, a native English speaker from the UK currently living in Taipei. I have a BA in Chinese and International Relations and an MA in Translation, and I have over three years of professional experience working with English and Chinese. I specialise in helping students become more confident and natural when using English. I’m particularly interested in one-to-one lessons for adults and university students, whether you want to improve your conversation skills, pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, writing or professional English. Having studied Chinese myself, I understand how challenging English can be for Chinese-speaking learners, and I’m patient and happy to explain things clearly when something is confusing. My professional experience editing English translations has also given me a very strong eye for grammar, accuracy and natural-sounding English. I want lessons to feel relaxed and practical rather than like another school class. We can focus on the areas that are most useful to you and use real-life topics and conversations to build your confidence. I’d love to help you feel more comfortable speaking and using English in everyday life, at university or at work!

My approach is to introduce new concept with real examples so that learning becomes intresting and easier for students. I encourage students to do Brainstorming instead of just giving them in order to make them able to solve such further problems on their own.

I hold an M.A. in TCSL and dual B.A. degrees in Chinese Literature and International Education from National Chi Nan University. My teaching philosophy blends structured cognitive tools with interactive learning. Specializing in mind mapping strategies and visual grammar illustrations, I simplify complex sentence structures and writing logic while using gamified tools like Kahoot to build students' speaking confidence. Global Teaching & Administrative Track Record With extensive cross-cultural experience across Taiwan, Europe, the US, and Vietnam, I teach diverse learners from K-12 to higher education. As an Adjunct Lecturer at Asia University, I structured curriculum helped 70% of foundation students pass TOCFL A2 within 3 months. My international background includes lecturing at Masaryk University (Czech Republic), coordinating intensive language programs at NCNU, and teaching at VietHoa International School (Vietnam) and Yinghua Academy (USA). Fluent in English and skilled in educational administration from her work at the Chiayi County Department of Education, she effectively manages curriculum design, standardized test prep (TOCFL), and international student advising.

I am an experienced and committed educator most recently working as Head of the EAL Department at a secondary academy in Essex. I hold a current, Enhanced DBS certificate. I am passionate about supporting young people who face barriers to learning and enabling them to achieve their potential through high-quality teaching, inclusive practice, and strong pastoral support. As EAL lead, I was responsible for the planning and delivery of high-quality teaching, learning and assessment for EAL students. This included developing Schemes of Work, preparing engaging and differentiated lessons, assessing student progress and providing targeted feedback to support improvement. My cohort included students with SEN and SEMH needs, who required carefully adapted teaching approaches and strong pastoral awareness. Through this work, I have developed extensive experience supporting learners aged 11–18 who are disadvantaged or who face significant barriers to engagement and academic success. Furthermore, I have privately tutored French and English to children and adults since 2010. My experience working with students who face complex challenges has strengthened my ability to support learners with additional needs. Many of the students I teach require encouragement, structure and understanding to engage successfully with learning. I take pride in creating a safe and supportive learning environment where students feel confident to participate, develop resilience and make progress. I am committed to maintaining high professional standards and continually developing my practice. I engage actively with professional development opportunities and value reflective practice and constructive feedback as key elements of effective teaching.

Certified science teacher! I am a current science teacher at a high school in Taipei. I teach Chemistry, Physics and Math. I build my lessons around student needs, tailoring each lesson to ensure that each student gets the best learning.

I teach English Communication, Soft Skills, Fine Art, and Art Therapy which sounds like an interesting mix because, well, it is. At the heart of everything I teach is one simple idea: **learning should actually be useful.** I’m CELTA and TEFL certified, with certification in Art Therapy, but my classroom has never been about collecting fancy words, memorising textbook answers, or nodding politely through another PowerPoint. I teach for the moments that happen outside the classroom the interview you need to walk into confidently, the conversation you’ve been avoiding, the presentation that makes your palms sweat, the idea you know is brilliant but struggle to put into words. My classes are practical, conversational, creative, and very human. We talk. We question things. We role-play awkward situations. We make mistakes without turning them into a tragedy. We figure out why something isn’t working, try it differently and sometimes laugh our way through the process. And then there’s art. As a Fine Art educator and Art Therapy practitioner, I work with creativity as more than just “making something pretty.” Art can help us express what we don’t quite know how to say, explore emotions, build confidence, slow down, and understand ourselves a little better. Whether I’m teaching someone to communicate more confidently in English, navigate a difficult workplace conversation, pick up a paintbrush after years of saying *“I’m not creative,”* or simply find another way to express themselves, I want them to leave with something they can genuinely use. My motto has always been " No learning for the sake of learning. We learn it. We try it. We mess it up. We try again. And eventually, it becomes yours."
