Mathematics
Hi, I'm Insia, a secondary school Mathematics teacher and KS3 Maths Lead with a passion for helping students become more confident and successful in maths. I currently teach Mathematics full-time, alongside providing one-to-one tuition. I specialise in KS3, GCSE and Pearson Edexcel IGCSE Mathematics. In my current role as KS3 Lead, I oversee curriculum planning and development, and have led the implementation of the Pearson Edexcel Scheme of Work across KS3. I also support the development of the KS4 curriculum and use assessment data to identify gaps in students' knowledge and areas where additional support is needed. Alongside teaching, I am a current Pearson GCSE Maths Examiner. This gives me first-hand insight into how GCSE examinations are marked, what examiners are looking for and the common mistakes that can cost students marks. I bring this experience into my tuition, particularly when working on exam technique, past papers and preparation for GCSE examinations. My approach to tutoring is patient, supportive and tailored to the individual student. I understand that students learn in different ways, so I adapt my explanations, examples and resources to suit their needs. I work with students who may be struggling with particular topics or lacking confidence, as well as those who are already achieving well and want to work towards the highest grades. I also have experience supporting students with SEND and additional learning needs, adapting materials and teaching strategies to make mathematics accessible while maintaining appropriate challenge. For me, tutoring isn't simply about getting the right answer. I want students to understand why a method works, develop their problem-solving skills and become confident enough to tackle unfamiliar questions independently. Parents can expect structured, encouraging lessons focused on both academic progress and building their child's confidence in mathematics.
