I'm a licensed Intervention Specialist (mild to moderate, K-12) and spent five years teaching special education in Columbus City Schools before serving four years as a principal of a 400-student school. That combination means two things for your family. I know how to teach a student who has been told, in one way or another, that they're behind. And I know what's happening on the other side of the table at an IEP meeting, because I've sat there as the administrator. What I help with Reading, writing, and math support for K-12 students, including students with IEPs, 504 plans, learning disabilities, ADHD, and processing differences Executive function: organization, planning, getting started, following through Understanding your child's IEP or evaluation, and preparing for the meeting so you walk in knowing what to ask for Students who've lost confidence and need to believe they can do the work before they'll try it How I work I start by finding out what your child can already do, not just where they're struggling. Then we set a small number of clear, specific goals and work toward them at a pace that builds momentum. I keep parents informed about what we're working on and what I'm seeing. I taught for five years in a large urban district where almost every student came in below grade level. I learned there that pace matters less than whether a kid believes the next step is possible. That's still how I teach. I'm in Columbus and available for in-person or online sessions.
