Hi, I’m Huck, a native Mandarin speaker and Traditional Chinese tutor based in Taipei. For more than 30 years, I’ve worked internationally with Western clients, building relationships, communicating across cultures, and training new employees. I’m also married to a British wife, so I’ve experienced the East-meets-West perspective not only at work, but in everyday life as well. This background has given me a good understanding of how English speakers tend to approach language learning and why Mandarin can sometimes feel very different or confusing. I know that simply knowing more vocabulary doesn’t necessarily mean you can actually use the language in real life. That’s why my lessons focus on practical, usable Mandarin. Rather than asking you to memorize endless lists of words, I help you understand how Mandarin is actually put together, how native speakers express ideas, and how to turn what you learn into sentences you can use in real situations. I studied in Ohio years ago, and I’m currently learning Thai, my fourth language. So I’m experiencing the challenges of learning a foreign language all over again from the student’s side. I believe there is no single teaching method that works for everyone. I prefer to first understand your goals, current level, learning style, and the situations in which you actually want to use Mandarin. Then I can adapt the lessons to you rather than simply following a fixed script. Most importantly, I want you to leave each lesson feeling that you can actually do something in Mandarin that you couldn’t do before. I teach IB Business Management and Economics at an international school in Taiwan, working mostly with English language learners tackling these subjects in their second language. Before teaching, I spent years in product management and e-commerce, so I know these topics from the inside, not just the textbook. My MBA and industry background mean I can connect classroom concepts to how businesses actually operate.

Hey I’m Rachel. I’ve taught English all over the world to all ages and have mentored teachers internationally. I currently work with business professionals on their English fluency and conversation to help them feel like themselves in English as well as for the USCIS citizenship test. I also teach humanities at a micro-highschool and have just opened my own middle school with a focus on global entrepreneurship including Spanish, entrepreneurship, global relations, life skills and academics.

I’m a teacher who has spent a lot of time working with students studying Economics and Business, from students just starting to explore these subjects through to IGCSE, A-Level and IB Diploma students preparing for their final exams. The thing I enjoy most about tutoring is helping students get to the point where something that seemed complicated suddenly makes sense. I mostly teach Economics and Business, and I can also support students with Accounting. I work with students studying IGCSE/GCSE, AS & A Level, IB and VCE, as well as younger students who want to build their foundations before starting one of these courses. My lessons are not about sitting and listening to me talk for an hour. We work through past paper questions and explore ideas together, figure out what you already understand, find the areas that are causing problems, and then practise using that knowledge. A big part of my teaching is helping students understand the difference between knowing the subject and knowing how to get marks in an exam. You might understand inflation perfectly well but struggle to write a strong Economics essay. You might know the Business theory but not know how to apply it to a case study. You might be able to calculate an Accounting answer but not understand why the calculation works. These are exactly the kinds of problems we can work on. For exam students, we can focus on things such as answer structure, diagrams, calculations, analysis, evaluation, case-study application and exam technique. For IB Economics students, that can include Paper 1, Paper 2, HL Paper 3 and support with understanding the IA process. I also like using real businesses, current events and real economic situations whenever possible. Economics and Business make much more sense when you can see why they matter outside the classroom. I have an MBA and a Master’s in Global Project Management, so I bring quite a lot of real business thinking into my teaching as well. If you are struggling, behind, changing courses, aiming for a top grade, or simply want someone to explain things in a different way, that is fine. The goal is pretty simple: understand what you are learning, know how to use it, and become much more confident doing it yourself. I can also tutor Global Perspectives for IGCSE and TOK for IB. I am experienced in IBDP Economics Extended Essays. I have extensive experince with public speaking and events such as World Scholars Cup.

I conduct weekly tests to track academic progress and provide regular progress updates to parents, ensuring they stay informed about their child’s performance and development. My priority is to make learning engaging while building strong concepts, confidence, and exam performance through personalised guidance and targeted practice.

I’m a native english speaker from South Africa and I’m also fluent in Italian. I have tefl and a degree in commerce. I like to keep my lessons playful and light as I found that students get better results when they’re having fun!
